Bruce L. Alkire has over 33 years of experience in Administrative Management, Public Relations, and Customer Relationship Management. He grew up in the Seattle area, graduating from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California with a degree in Business Administration. He has been involved in a family construction and barge terminal business since 1971. He is married to Patricia (Finch) Alkire, a Coldwell Banker Devonshire residential realtor and they have two children: Brett, who is married to Sarah (Frary) Alkire, and Alicia. They also enjoy one grandson, Brock Alkire.
Bruce's principal strength in business has been his ability to build mutual trust and respect in situations where dissent and disagreement are prevalent. He served as Management Chairman for Governor Edgar's State Labor Management Council and PALM (Peoria Area Labor Management Council.) Bruce's professional skills in facilitation, negotiation, and arbitration
have benefited the private, public, and non-profit sectors for many years.
As an effective volunteer in the community, Bruce contributed to various organizations as a board member. He is a past Chairman of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, TRICON, PALM, Peoria Workforce Development, and Foundation for Fair Contracting. He has also served as a Board member of the Peoria Civic Federation and Heartland Partnership.
Currently, Bruce is involved with the Methodist Medical Center Board as Vice Chairman, the Commerce Bank Advisory Board, the Illinois Central College Foundation Board, the Economic Development Council (EDC) Executive Committee and Board, and the Medina Plan Commission. For over fourteen years, Bruce has been an active volunteer for Easter Seals, serving on the Board and Executive Board.
